Mobilize to Defend IRC Fire Sprinkler Requirements
Mark Your Calendar for Wednesday, October 28th
The 2009-2012 International Residential Code (IRC) development cycle is now underway, and to our disappointment, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) has submitted proposals to rescind home fire sprinkler requirements. This misguided effort disregards the demonstrated value of sprinklers in saving lives and reducing human suffering associated with residential fires. To protect the public and firefighters, we must once again stand tall by opposing these changes

NAHB move to remove sprinkler requirements at ICC hearing in Baltimore
Opponents to fire sprinklers in the ICC International Residential Code are looking to have the historical fire sprinkler requirements removed. The opposition will be packing the audience and we need to equalize the situation or we will lose this life saving requirement. IF opponents to fire sprinklers reverse this item and learn they have the numbers and ability to reverse other fire sprinkler requirements or trade-ups in other code documents in the future, it will be a tragedy for our industry.

International Code Council Vote Confirms Need for Life-Saving Technology in New Homes
MINNEAPOLIS - September 21, 2008 - Voting members of the leading building code body in the nation, the International Code Council (ICC), overwhelmingly supported a residential fire sprinkler requirement for all new one- and two-family homes and townhouses.
